Lot Essay

The present ref. 16520 is a very well-preserved so-called “P-Series” example of the iconic model. Dating from 2000, the last year of production of the reference, it is one of the most popular versions of the reference.

It impresses with an unpolished case with full proportions, the original dial with attractively discoloured chapter rings to the registers. Interesting to note is the case back, no longer stamped 16500 but already with no. 2100, also used for the models’ successor ref. 116520. The rarity of this P-Series is further enhanced by the presence of the original guarantee dated 2000 and presentation box.

Launched in 1988 ref. 16520 was fitted with the modified Zenith El Primero calibre, the firm’s first ever automatic chronograph movement. It became an instant classic among collectors and is today even more sought-after than at the time of its release
