Lot Essay

This endangered species strap is shown for display purposes only and is not for sale. The watch will be supplied with a calf leather strap.

To the best of our knowledge, the present ref. 1593 has never been offered in public before.

Reference 1593
Reference 1593 was launched in 1944 and was available until around 1967.It is also known among collectors as the "hour glass" model due to its streamlined form with its concave and curved sides. Mostly produced in gold such as the present watch and with a few examples cased in platinum.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pages 128, 129 & 141, and in Patek Philippe Museum - Patek Philippe - Volume II, p. 218.
