Kändler's Taxa for June 1744 notes 2 neue Mops Hunde auf einem Rasen sitzend, angefangen zu poussiren und selbigen die gehörige Action und Gestalt gegeben, welche hernach dem Bildhauer Reinicken vollends fertigen lassen. The record for December of the same year includes a description of the female pug, both models corresponding to the present examples.
