La jardinière quadrangulaire en bois est finement sculptée d'oiseaux sur des branchages dans un jardin rocailleux sur les côtés et porte une inscription poétique signée Yi Gui avec un cachet. L'intérieur est à décor de tiges recouvertes de cordes dorées en soie tenant des fleurs de lotus épanouies dans leur feuillage, un papillon aux ailes déployées reposant délicatement sur une tige.
Dimensions de la jardinière: 46,3 x 22,5 cm. (18 ¼ x 8 7/8 in.)
Hauteur totale: 33 cm. (13 in.)

Lot Essay

Potted miniature scenes and plants composed of precious materials were a popular form of ornament in the palaces, especially on festival days. A related jardinière of lotus flowers, this time presented in a red-glazed porcelain jardiniere, is in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing (inventory number: Gu00126615). The extremely refined craftsmanship on the butterfly is very close to some of the jewellery from the Qing palace collection, see a very similiarly related butterfly hairpin, also in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing (inventory number: Gu00009742).
