the case cast with rocaille and surmounted by two nereids blowing seashells, with salamanders to the sides, supported by naked maidens on a swirling base modelled with scallop shells to front and reverse, the white enamel dial with blue Roman chapters and Arabic five minutes, signed MONBRO FILS AINE PARIS JACQUIER H.ER, pierced gilt-metal hands, the twin barrel movement with strike on bell, French, mid 19th century -- 20in. (51cm.) high
