Lot Essay

This pair is after two ceiling panels in the Capitular Hall of the Scuola Grande dei Carmini in Venice, executed by Giambattista Tiepolo between 1739 and 1744. These border the central panel of the schema that depicts the The Virgin in glory handing Saint Simon Stock the scapular, which was put in place in 1749.
