Of specific interest, the present timepiece distinguishes itself through its provenance and dial, nicknamed ‘APH’ due to the printing variation of the ‘Cosmograph’ text where the ‘APH’ letters are slightly separated from the preceding letters and the word is in a slightly different font than found in other examples of this reference. An important representative of the reference 116520, it is from the select part of production intended for the Sultanate Oman, and bestowed with the Khanjar symbol to its case back. With the advent of the new millennium, Rolex decided to release a new version of their iconic Daytona chronograph. Introduced at the Basel fair in 2000, the case had been redesigned with new glossy lugs and was manufactured with a bracelet with solid links. With time and the discontinuation of the reference, Rolex collectors started paying specific attention to this specific model and particularities of each pieces.
