THE CUNHA FAMILY
The Cunha family were the last residents of Quinta Vigia, the official residence of the Madeira government, which they inherited in the beginning of the 20th century. Tomas Cunha Santos sold the Quinta to the government in 1970. The original wine company in the name of Julio A. (Augusto) Cunha was founded in 1820. The actual Quinta Vigia had two names before the present one: Quinta Lambert and Quinta das Angústias, as it was known when the Cunha family were living there. The Cunha wines in this auction came from a direct descendant of Julio A. Cunha.

Believed 950ml. Recorked in 2019. New wax capsule with GD seal. Old two part dumpy bottle with stencilling and remains of old neck label. Level into neck
Tasting note: Believed to be Terrantez. High toned subtle rich nose, quite subdued. Soft creamy mouth feel, fairly rich with beautiful length. Passion fruits over pure lingering concentrated acidity. Very good after taste. Love this. Tasted January 2020. EV.
