Lot Essay

An unsigned pencil drawing by George Bullock at Tew Park, Great Tew Oxfordshire, and inscribed in his hand 'Plan of a Stove in Dining Room and Oak Study', appears to confirm the attribution to Bullock of this distinctive design, first made in the exhibition catalogue, The Fashionable Fireplace, 1660 - 1840, Temple Newsam House, 1985, p.30, no.22.
