Lot Essay

Liu Qingyun was the second son of Liu Shaolü. Liu Shaolü founded Jiuhua Tang in 1937, with its main business selling scholar objects and art supplies, as well as mounting paintings. Liu was great friends with many artists, in particular Zhang Daqian. During Zhang’s residence in America, Liu sent his son Liu Qingyun to help Zhang with the transition.
