Details
1915 Eddie Collins Single Signed Baseball to Umpire Tommy Connolly
Extremely scarce Eddie Collins single signed baseball which was inscribed to noted American League umpire, and fellow Hall of Fame member, Tommy Connolly. Lightly toned B. Johnson AL baseball signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, "For the best Umpire in the American League 'Tommy Connolly' from Eddie Collins 9/12/15". Inscription and signature rate 8 out of 10. The official American League ball presents very nicely with no apparent use and only general light age toning.
Eddie Collins is widely considered as one of the finest second baseman in the history of the game, and was one of the inductees at the 1939 inaugural ceremonies at the Hall of Fame. He was a member of five World Championship teams with the Philadelphia Athletics and another with the Chicago White Sox. Collins passed away in 1951 with single signed baseballs ranking as one of the toughest of any 3,000 hit club and original Hall of Fame inductee.
Highly desirable provenance from the collection of Tommy Connolly which, among many items, also included the first pitched baseball in the history of Fenway Park. Includes full LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA: Ball: EX-EX/MT, Signature: NM
