A YAOZHOU CARVED ‘DUCK’ DISH
NORTHERN SONG-JIN DYNASTY (960-1234)
The dish is carved to the centre of the interior with a duck swimming amid waves, encircled by an incised line and surrounded by a band of crested waves on the cavetto. The exterior is divided into six shallow lobes by vertical incised lines. The dish is covered with a translucent glaze of olive-green tone with the exception of the foot ring.
