A BLUE AND WHITE 'QILIN' DISH
TRANSITIONAL PERIOD, CIRCA 1630-1650
The dish is painted to the centre with a qilin in a playful stance its mouth exhaling smoke twirling in spirals. The cavetto is decorated with a band of four buddhist emblems, the everted rim is bordered by a freely pencilled wave pattern. The exterior is left plain.
