Il est vraisemblable que Marc du Plantier ait conçu le dessin de cette table lors de son séjour en Espagne, d’où il rentre en 1949. Le modèle reste rare sans que le nombre exact d’exemplaires réalisés nous en soit connu précisément. Le premier exemplaire référencé apparaît au Salon des Artistes décorateurs en 1949, agrémenté d’un plateau en marbre blanc incrusté de marbre de couleur. Cette même table semble être celle exposée à la galerie Rive Droite en 1952. Sur l’une de ces deux tables , le motif de cordelette torsadée ornant le piètement est absent, sans que l’on puisse dire si elle est encore en cours de montage ou s’il s’agit d’une variante sans cordelette. Notre table serait la troisième version référencée, certainement la plus luxueuse, dont le piètement géométrique est ennobli d’un motif en bronze de stries en relief, inexistant sur l’exemplaire présenté au Salon des Artistes Décorateurs.

It is likely that Marc du Plantier designed this table during his stay in Spain, from where he returned in 1949. The model is rare although we do not know the exact number of copies made. The first listed example appeared at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in 1949 and featured a white marble top inlaid with coloured marble. This same table seems to be the one that was exhibited at the Rive Droite gallery in 1952. On one of these two tables, the twisted cord pattern decorating the base is missing; one cannot tell whether the table was still in the process of being assembled or whether it was a variant without the cord. Our table is the third listed version and is certainly the most luxurious, with a geometrical base embellished with a bronze pattern of raised grooves, which does not exist on the example presented at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs.
