Early edition of the most influential devotional work of the later Middle Ages, from a womans library. One of only a handful of works printed by Johannes Leoviler, who printed books for Franciscus Renner and, still using Renner types, for Franciscus de Madiis, as here. This copy bears in the ownership inscription of a “Soror Clementie.” HC(+Add) 9090*; BMC V 406; BSB-Ink T-169; Goff I-11; ISTC ii00011000.

Median octavo (155 x 102mm). 67 leaves (of 68, without final blank). Red initials and paragraph marks (some light spotting). Modern red morocco. Provenance: "Soror Clementie" (early inscription) – marginalia – acquired from Lathrop C. Harper, Inc, New York, 16 May 1955.
