The printmaker and textile artist Anni Albers is revered for geometrically patterned compositions and collaborative relationships with her husband Josef Albers and the artists and teachers of the Bauhaus and Black Mountain college. Albers began producing prints in 1963, using a wide range of techniques to bring her works to press. Albers’ screenprints focus on the subtle distinctions between colors and orientation of simple forms. These optically charged compositions also evince Albers’ influences, from weaving and quilting to pre-Columbian forms of craft and architecture.
