Lot Essay

The eyes of this statue are deeply recessed for now-lost inlays. He wears a combination of the nemesheaddress and the hemhem crown, a composite crown with bundled elements, ostrich feathers, multiple sun disks, and uraei. For a similar example see no. 64.77 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
