A PALE GREYISH-GREEN AND RUSSET JADE ARCHAISTIC 'CHILONG' CUP
MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The cup is carved and pierced to either side with a sinuous chilong in high relief and is delicately incised to the body with a band of archaistic taotie on a ground of stylised 'C'-scroll. The stone is of a mottled greyish-celadon tone, with areas of creamy brown and enhanced russet inclusions.
