Sale room notice
We are grateful to Martin Royalton-Kisch for suggesting an attribution of this drawing to Jacob Quina the Younger (1634-1699), an Amsterdam artist specializing in depictions of birds, discussed in his article ‘Fowl Play? From Van Borssom to Quina and La Cambre’, Master Drawings, XXXVI, no. 1, Spring 1998, pp. 45-52. In particular a sheet in the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett (inv. KdZ 546; see ibid., p. 46, fig. 6) offers a close comparison, both in style and technique.
