Lot Essay

Rare original ticket stub issued for the game played at Redland Field which was won by Cincinnati. White Sox pitcher Eddie Cicotte took the mound in the bottom of the first and with his second pitch nailed leadoff hitter Morrie Rath signaling that "the fix" was on. The game, and in turn the Series, would prove to become one of the most storied and consequential in Major League history. Desirable stub can be suitably positioned for display however the right side (typically referred to as the rain check portion) has separated from the left. Wear throughout includes wrinkles/creases. There is a small puncture to the rain check half and a tear to the other. Mounting residue/damage on back: see description
