Lot Essay

This fragment comes from a medallion carpet which must have been woven at the beginning of the period of production; its drawing is excellent and the colours remain strong and clear, both of which deteriorate in later weavings. The absence of black outlines and the playful use of contrasting colours keeps this diminutive fragment jewel-like.
