MAYAN MINIATURE JADE MOSAIC HEAD

The youthful face with smiling parted lips composed of finely cut polished jade tesserae and mother-of-pearl and pyrite inlaid eyes; on a modern matrix.

Jade was the primal symbol of life-giving water and fertility to the ancient Maya. Jade jewelry and adornments would be gifted and transported as tributes to the distant parts of the Mayan lands.

Tête de jeune personnage à la bouche souriante composée de tesselles de jade finement découpées, placées sur une matrice moderne, et d’yeux incrustés de coquillage .

Le jade était, chez les anciens Mayas, le symbole principal de l’eau régénérante et de la fertilité. Les bijoux et parures de jade étaient offerts et acheminés comme tributs jusqu’aux plus lointaines terres mayas.
