NAPOLEON III (1808-1873)
A one-page autograph letter of 8 lines in french, signed, from Camden Place, Chislehurst, le 19 Avril 1872, to Hubert Barry, thanking him for sending him some books and stating that he will read them with interest (some spotting and soiling). With original stamped addressed envelope, both in common mount, 12½ x 8in., framed and glazed.
Lot Essay
By the 4th September 1870 the Second Empire had ended. In March 1871 Napoleon III joined the ex-Empress at Chislehurst, Kent and resided there in exile until his death.
