etching with engraving and drypoint, circa 1647, on laid paper, watermark Arms of Amsterdam (Hinterding B.c), a good impression of the third state (of seven), with thread margins or trimmed on the platemark on three sides, trimmed just inside the lower borderline below

Unidentified, number 257 in brown ink verso.
Fürst Karl von Paar (1772-1819), Vienna (according to an inscription in pencil verso); probably his sale, Sotheby, London, 13 July 1854, lot 1528 (with two other impressions of the same subject).
With Colnaghi & Co., London (their inventory number C. 37380 in pencil verso).
