THE PROPERTY OF A LADY
The vendor's mother grew up in the same village as André Courrèges and indeed met him frequently when being fitted for gowns at Balenciaga, the master couturier, and Courrèges' mentor. She and her husband were supporters and admirers of Courrèges when he left Balenciaga to set up his own house. Each season, the vendor was given an outfit, and as a favoured client Courrèges often made up his designs in the vendor's own choice of fabric. These outfits are, therefore, unique. Lots marked with a * came directly from the Collections, all others were made to order.
