Lot Essay

This impressive censer is of an unusually large size and weight, and is notable for its exceptional cast and mark, all of which speak to production standards of the highest level. Very few examples can compare with the present example. It can be compared to another large li-form bronze censer, of slightly smaller size (31.4 cm wide), sold in Christie's New York, 24 March 2011, lot 1395.
