CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, MARQUE À SIX CARACTÈRES EN CACHET EN ROUGE DE FER ET ÉPOQUE DAOGUANG (1821-1850)
Reposant sur un petit pied circulaire souligné d'une frise de grecques en bleu sur fond blanc, la panse balustre et le col évasé sont ornés de fleurs de lotus, de chauves-souris, de pêches et des caractères xi (double bonheur) et fu (bonheur) parmi les rinceaux sur un fond vert. La base est émaillée turquoise. Le bord supérieur et l'épaulement sont rehaussés d'une frise de têtes de ruyi alternées avec des fleurons. Il est muni de deux prises latérales en forme de dragon.

Shuangxi, 'double happiness', is a popular symbol for weddings, as good things come in pairs. The inclusion of bats (fu) and peaches (shoutao) in the decoration implies wishes for blessings and longevity, making this vase an appropriate wedding gift. Compare with a Daoguang jar and cover with a similar decoration preserved in the Palace Museum in Beijing, no. Gu00155918.
