First edition in book form of the third novel to feature Sherlock Holmes. A bright copy. The Hound was originally serialized in the Strand Magazine between August 1901 and April 1902. Green & Gibson A26.
Octavo. Half-title, frontispiece, and 15 plates by Sidney Paget (minor scuff and spot to bottom edge of text block). Original pictorial scarlet cloth gilt by Alfred Garth Jones, depicting the silhouette of a hound in black against the moon (upper corner just bumped, a touch of rubbing to covers). Custom chemise and quarter morocco slipcase.
