OTTOMAN EMPIRE, LATE 18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY

Often attributed to the Ottoman Balkans, this is an example of an Ottoman kard (A. C. Tirri, Islamic Weapons: from Maghrib to Moghul, 2003). A sword with a very similar hilt was sold in these Rooms, 12 October 2004, lot 54. Another dagger with a similar hilt was sold at Bonham’s, London, 23 October 2017, lot 146.
