Details
CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE
Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and Chambertin are the two most famous of the 9 grands crus of Gevrey-Chambertin. The soils are limestone with a good proportion of clay marls giving the wines power and roundness. The vineyard occupies the best part of the hillside, the steepest, up to 300m in altitude.
Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is distinguished by aromas of Morello cherry and raspberry, with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and liquorice. 10, 20, 30, even 50 years represent an estimated aging depending on the vintage for wines to which Napoleon remained faithful all his life.
