CORTON
The only red Grand Cru of the Côte de Beaune, the Grand Cru of Corton covers 95 ha including 4 ha of Chardonnay making white Corton very rare.
The vines are planted at an altitude of between 215 and 370 m and face south-east/south-west, unusual for the Côte de Beaune, with large marly outcrops in the middle of the slope. In the lower part of the hillside, the gently sloping soil is reddish and stony, calcareous brown and rich in marl with a high potash content. This is the kingdom of Pinot Noir. Here all the nuances in the wine are determined by the composition and the thickness of the soils and their location in the appellation. The Ponsot wines come from a metayage from the Clos du Roi and Paulands lieux-dits from vines of over 60 years old.

Tannic, dense and even closed in their youth, the Cortons are imbued with notes of spicy fruits, blackcurrant and kirsch, revealing with age an extraordinary aromatic power showing aromas of undergrowth, truffle, venison and leather with astonishing aging potential.
