AN ENAMELLED FOLIATE-RIMMED DISH
CHONGZHEN PERIOD (1628-1644)
The interior is decorated with pine tree, bamboo, prunus (‘The Three Friends of Winter’) and a bird in flight, surrounded by twelve alternating panels of floral sprays and diaper in the cavetto. The exterior is incised with floral sprays and butterflies above flower petals encircling the foot. The base is inscribed with an apocryphal six-character Chenghua mark in underglaze blue.
