Monte Bello Chardonnay
In the 1940’s William Short, owner of the Ridge Torre Vineyard, planted several acres of Chardonnay, which made up the 1962 estate Monte Bello Chardonnay Ridge’s first vintage of Chardonnay. Between four and eight barrels were produced until 1984. From 1985 until 1999, young vines began to replace the old vine Chardonnay and the wine was labelled as Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay. Monte Bello Chardonnay was reborn in 1999 when the vines had reached a maturity that guaranteed top-flight quality.
