PUCCINI, Giacomo (1858-1924)
Autograph letter signed ('Giacomo') to Rose [Ader], n.p., 23 April 1921.
In Italian. Four pages, 176 x 127mm. Envelope, addressed to Rose Ader in Vienna.

'I wish to give you my all, my very existence, my art'. Writing in the early days of their affair, Puccini thanks Rose Ader for a letter which enclosed a portrait photograph – 'It's good, but you are better'. The remainder of the letter is a torrent of passionate feelings: 'I love you so much that I feel as though I were going to die ... I wish to give you my all, my very existence, my art, every minute of my daily life – devote myself entirely to you! What a dream! But destiny keeps us apart and divided! Goodbye my adored treasure. I send you all of my kisses on your beautiful mouth ...'.
