PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF COMTE & COMTESSE JEAN-JACQUES DE FLERSComte and Comtesse Jean-Jacques de Flers spent together a life devoted to contemporary art. Very famous on the French art market, patrons and friends of artists, great explorers, they were pioneers in Europe in buying young Chinese artists in the early 2000s. In September 2022 Christie’s Paris was honored to offer at auction their collection of contemporary art including artists Zhang Xiaogang, Zeng Fanzhi, Liu Xiaodong and Chen Zhen. The collection also comprised western artists A. R. Penck, Keith Haring, Jean Tinguely, Anselm Kiefer, Yayoi Kusama, and a selection of Street art showing how openminded the collectors were. Comte and Comtesse Jean-Jacques de Flers travelled the world and visited Asia many times. They also collected works of art from the countries they visited and bought to the most prominent dealers for Asian art in Paris such as Galerie Jacques Barrère.
