Lot Essay
In 1971, Rolex unveiled the Cosmograph Daytona Reference 6263. It was the first Daytona to proudly be fitted into an Oyster case. The screw down pushers and crown helped provide additional water resistance up to 50 meters. The stylization of the screw down pushers opposed to the previous pump pushers, helped give the watch a more “sporty” look. The present lot is often referred as the “Big Red” due to the large red “DAYTONA” text above the lower hour register.
Powering Reference 6263 is Rolex Caliber 727, which is Valjoux 72 based and beats at a frequency of 21,600 beats per hour.
