Lot Essay

Patek Philippe Reference 5235 may be one of the most unique watches from the traditional manufacturer. Inspired by watches from the late 80s, the dial features a regulator display and is a first for the brand. The case measures at a contemporary 40.5mm and is constructed in 18k white gold. The dial is brushed silver in color and is complimented with a blue railroad track and hands. Furthermore, a scarcely seen art deco style Patek Philippe buckle is fitted to the strap.

For its time, the movement was cutting edge and a step into modernity from the established manufacturer. It utilizes the Pulsomax silicon escapement, Gyromax balance, and Spiromax balance spring which have all fabricated from the Advanced Research Department at Patek Philippe. Caliber 31-260 REG QA is completely unique to Reference 5235, and is Patek’s first movement to feature hacking seconds, fitting for the time-reading focused wristwatch.
