Lot Essay

Fanny Hoyt (1793-1864) was the daughter of Nathan Hoyt (1751-1825) and Elizabeth Goodwin Hoyt (1752-1812) of Newburyport, Massachusetts. Jennys painted portraits of Fanny and her parents, as well as their three other daughters which can be seen in David David, Inc., advertisement, The Magazine Antiques (September 1967), p. 255.
