Lot Essay

The present engraving relates to a drawing by Primaticcio (Louvre, inv, no. 8572), as well as to a lost fresco in Fontainebleau, as part of a series on the life of Alexander the Great, in the chamber of the duchesse Anne de Pisseleu. It was presumably the drawing that served as a model for the print by the unidentified engraver with the initials FG.
