This relief preserves a warrior with a long beard and hair, armed in a conical helmet with an ear flap, body armor and a mace. Similarly armed Assyrian bodyguards stand before Sennacherib on a relief from the Southwest Palace at Nineveh, now in the British Museum, on which the king watches the battle of Lachish. His soldiers are bringing prisoners before him to be executed (see fig. 112 in J.M. Russel, Sennacherib's Palace Without Rival at Nineveh).
