Lot Essay

Flemming Lassen proposed the design for the 'Tired Man' chair for the 1935 Annual Design Competition of the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild. The title of his proposal, "Furniture for a Bachelor's Pad" humorously indicates his target audience. He revised the design and began production in 1936, creating the a chair perfectly designed for leisure and comfort.
