Lot Essay

Reference 3330 “Antimagnetic” is one of the largest chronograph wristwatches ever produced by Rolex whereby examples in steel are extremely rare. Measuring a wonderful, “oversized” 37mm, the timepiece has gained a distinguished position in the world of collectible vintage watches thanks to the twelve-hour chronograph register (a feature which was never available at Patek Philippe for example), balanced dial configuration, and the inclusion of both a tachymeter and telemeter scale. The timepiece is the perfect effigy of 1940s design.

This reference can be found in 100 Superlative Rolex Watches by John Goldberger with the example shown being serial number 047520, and the present watch numbered 047521. Additional examples of this rare reference in addition to reference 3335 are described and illustrated in Il Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 114 - 127.
