Unveiled in 1971, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6263 was the first Daytona to be fitted in an Oyster case. The watch featured a screw down crown and pushers, providing a water resistance rating of 50 meters along with a “sportier” aesthetic when compared to pump pushers found in earlier models. Often referred to as the “Big Red” Daytona due to the large, capitalized, red “DAYTONA” text located above the lower hour register, reference 6263 is a highly collectable and prized vintage Rolex watch coveted by collectors of all kinds. Powering the wristwatch is Rolex caliber 727, a Valjoux 72 based movement that beats at a frequency of 21,600 beats per hour.
