Lot Essay

Epitomizing the complicated, mighty, and exquisite house of Breguet, every inch of reference 3657 has been intricately and thoughtfully considered. The dial consists of handcrafted guilloché which has been carefully cut using a rose engine lathe and is complimented with thermally blued-steel Breguet hands. Drawling the attention, one can instantly notice the tourbillon running at the lower half, in which Abraham-Louis Breguet himself originally invented in 1801. Further, the watch has a power reserve and retrograde 24-hour indicator which adds a lovely dynamic element to the timepiece.

The sides of the case have been marvelously cold rolled to produce a coin edge profile, and the straight lugs are sawdered to the case and perfectly polished for a seamless fit. The timepiece also features screwed spring bars for secure fastening, a lavish yet subtle detail. On the rear, the manual winding in-house movement is a remarkable sight. The entire movement has been freehand engraved along with incredible, interior angle polishing on the jewels and screw placements, completing the marvelous timepiece.
