Lot Essay


Painted inscriptions and coats-of-arms on the reverse of the panels identify the sitters as members of the Van Amstel van Mijnden family. A comparable picture by the artist, signed ‘J P Wÿck’, showing a lady, half-length, is in the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin.
