Presentation copy of the first edition, inscribed to his first biographer: 'To David from Plum P. G. Wodehouse'. A collection of 10 short stories, including the story ‘Jeeves Takes Charge’ which details the arrival of Jeeves into the Wooster household. A selection of the stories had previously appeared in the Saturday Evening Post. Includes appearances by regular characters Bingo Little, Aunt Dahlia, Anatole, and Sir Roderick Glossop.. Octavo. (Occasional light scattered spotting, heaviest to title and edges.) Original green pictorial cloth, upper board and spine lettered and stamped in black (fore-edge of upper board with tiny areas of discolouration, spine lightly sunned); original pictorial dust-jacket (extremities lightly soiled and rubbed, expertly repaired with the whole backstrip strengthened and the head and foot restored with paper infill and tiny portion of title in facsimile, upper flap with same repair with a further four letters restored in facsimile, a few tiny repaired closed tears and nicks along edges). Provenance: David A. Jasen (b.1937; authorial presentation inscription on title page).
