Lot Essay

Both these letters are of post-Titanic sinking historical interest. Mr and Mrs Frederick M. Hoyt were First-Class passengers and both were saved. In his letter dated April 22nd 1912 addressed to Mr Andrew Thompson, Mr Hoyt makes repayment of 100 pounds which Mr Thompson made to presumably after the sinking, possibly onboard the Carpathia or after they were landed. In his second letter dated 17.7.12 Mr Hoyt comments on aspects of Titanic's sinking particularly with regard to the weather and to the conduct of the ship's officers and crew.
