A detailed unrigged 1:48 scale model of the 74 gun 3rd Rate 'Alfred' of 1778 built from plans by H. Hahn by M. Saville-Smithin with cut-away masts, cast royal figurehead, hair rails, heads, round houses, catheads, anchors with bound wooden stocks, fish davit, belaying rails and pins, gratings, stove pipe, deck rails, companionways, belfry, breastworks with ballister turned columns under, capstan, deck rings, upper and well deck guns in carriages, chart locker, double helm, deck light, barge, rigged cutter, longboat and dinghy all in chocks and each each with bottom boards and thwarts. The hull, planked in boxwood and copper plated to the waterline has carved and decorated stern and quarter galleries with glazed windows, chain plates and dead eyes and closed gunports, finished in black, yellow, blue and venetian red with painted decoration -- 22 x 52in.
