A LONG-TAILED CUCKOO
POSSIBLY BIKANER, RAJASTHAN, INDIA, 18TH CENTURY
Opaque pigments on paper, set within single black rule and pink margins, the verso plain with Bikaner Royal Collection stamp, loss to the left side of the painting
4 7⁄8 x 9 ½in. (12.5 x 24.3cm.) at largest
Rather than being a fragment of a larger composition this study of a long-tailed cuckoo is, in fact, intended as a single composition which is rare in Rajasthani painting.
