Lot Essay

A closely related desk with almost exact decoration was sold at Poly Beijing, 29 May 2009, lot 1350 for CNY2,800,000. Compare to another zitan desk from the collection of Prince Gong which was sold at Christie's New York, 28 April 2017, lot 8. This desk combines a purely Western form, the partner’s desk, with Qing imperial carving.
